Situated in Vauxhall, James Kane Nursery is a Christian Day Nursery (Est. 1994) with charitable status, caring for children between the ages of 2 – 5 years. We are multicultural nursery that offers a fun loving and caring environment enabling the fullest all round development of every child. The welfare and needs of every child in our care is at the heart of our planning. The needs of the child are paramount. Every child is dealt with as an individual; they are allocated a key worker who will plan for their needs and follow their interests.

The Nursery is one of many projects within the auspices of the Lighthouse Education Service. We offer “subsidized nursery places” through various funding initiatives to parents who wish to go back to studies or work flexible hours. James Kane Nursery is registered with Ofsted – the Office for Standards in Education.

The Value of Play

Pre-school children learn best through first-hand experience. Our carefully selected and intensive resources enable your child to experiment and explore and to grow in understanding. We encourage purposeful play as the most important tool for learning during these early years.

Intellectual Development

We aim to develop language skills numeracy and reasoning skills. Through art, drama, music and movement we encourage creativity and imagination. Early reading, writing, mathematics science and technology are all part of our daily routine. Your child will have access to computers at an early age.

Decision Making

The development of independent learning and self discipline rely upon the ability to make effective decisions. By providing opportunities for your child to choose from a range of planned activities we are able to enhance these developments.

Outings and Events

Every year we invite parents to join their children on outings to different places so that they can have the chance to spend time with their children and develop relationships with other parents within the area. We feel that it is very important to take them on educational trips in order to increase their general knowledge and learning.

Keeping Children Safe . . .

We make safety and security a top priority because we know that your children are special. We have high staff to children ratio to ensure close supervision at all times and a trained first aider is on hand if necessary. All comings and goings are monitored carefully via CCTV and video door-entry control system so that no unauthorised person can gain access to the premises.

The nursery is registered, and regularly inspected. It conforms with all relevant legislation, meeting all and exceeding many of the requirements of the Children Act 1989 and Every Child Matters Agenda.

‘Happy children are confident learners, they are happy when they feel safe and loved’. At a very early age, the children gain confidence and are able to explore newly found skills of mobility, dexterity and speech.

In our nursery we employ carefully screened and qualified nursery nurses and assistants, who understand that the way they talk, encourage, praise, and support, will influence your child’s self esteem. We select our staff carefully not only on the basis of their qualifications and experience, but also on their ability to work and gain the confidence of young children. All our staffs are trained to recognize and respect the individual needs of your child.

James Kane Nursery is known for its positive contribution to the community and works very hard to ensure the needs of parents and children within the community are met through the services we offer.
